The History
How Tuticorin Rifle Club was born?
Founded in March 1984, the Tuticorin Rifle Club emerged from the Civilian Rifle Training Course (C.R.T.C.) held at the Tuticorin A.R. Camp. After training four successful batches, the fifth group decided it was time to create a dedicated space for shooting enthusiasts. On the same lines as other established clubs in Tamil Nadu, such as those in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai, the Tuticorin Rifle Club was born. Today, it proudly champions marksmanship and community spirit in the heart of Tuticorin!
At the Tuticorin Rifle Club, we envision a dynamic community where students and school children can develop their marksmanship skills across various categories of the sport. Our goal is to train members to excel in competitions at the District, State, National, and International levels.
We are dedicated to fostering responsible firearm handling and increasing awareness of safety, as well as the dangers of improper use. Through our training programs, we instill a strong sense of discipline and sportsmanship, empowering the next generation of shooting enthusiasts and ensuring a safe, knowledgeable, and passionate community!
The Vision
The Challenges
The Tuticorin Rifle Club was inactive for a few years due to various constraints. It was then revived in the year 1997 during the tenure of then Superintendent of Police, Shri. S.R. Jangid IPS, and started shooting practice at the Valanad Police Range.
In 2000, we have conducted our ever first Inter District Shooting Competition for Rifle and Pistol Events at the Valanad Range.
Changing Perceptions:
At Tuticorin Rifle Club, we're redefining the perception of firearms. While "weapons" often carry negative connotations, sporting guns are tools for precision, focus, and discipline—not violence.
Our aim is to break the stigma by promoting the positive side of shooting sports in a safe, controlled, and responsible environment. Through expert coaching and structured training, we teach our members to master marksmanship, build confidence, and develop valuable life skills.
We believe in using firearms as instruments of personal achievement, healthy competition, and social responsibility, shaping a future where firearms are respected for their role in sports, not harm.
